St. John Island Information
Thanks to Laurence Rockefeller's vision, St. John is two-thirds National
Park lands. This protects the island from overdevelopment and keeps
the population at about 4,000 year round residents. The locals are
an eclectic mix of West Indians and American culture. St. Johnians
pride themselves on protecting its charm and free spirited nature.
You won't find a red light or any nationally franchised fast foods
chains on the island. You will find friendly, accommodating and accepting
natives. Some have a deep family history on the island and some are
a history in making...
St. John, Virgin Islands quietly boasts over 30 different beachs
and 14 National Park hiking trails. The natural beauty is unsurpassed.
But St. John is much more...It is true Caribbean soul, funky, and
fun. What better place to have a wedding and honeymoon too!
Escape from the stress of everyday life, come to a tropical island
and enjoy the simple pleasures of walking on sugar white sandy beaches,
sipping champagne at sunset and sitting under a moonlit sky together.
It is so relaxing and romantic.
But
island vacations are not all life in the slow lane... St. John, US
Virgin Islands is located in the midst of many cays and central to
the British Virgin Islands.
Honeymoon Hint: Rent an Ocean Runner either with or without
a captain and see the islands from the water. It's easy and fun. Have
lunch in Tortola, stop at the Willy T and snorkel on Sandy Spit, a
perfect day!
Cruz Bay, the town of St. John, USVI has many great restaurants from
fine dining to casual. Most of the restaurants are within walking
distance to one another. Local bands provide live music on Wednesdays,
Fridays and Saturdays so you can dance to calypso, reggae to your
hearts content. Spend a memorable evening dining, strolling and dancing
under a star filled sky. Everything is outdoors - no need for air
conditioning in the islands, the trade winds keep it cool.
We can't wait to come back. ... I would
have loved to have had more time in St. John. Next time we will
visit for longer... Cathleen and Mike
St. John Weddings Are Pristine
