Jost Van Dyke Wedding, Island Style

Jost Van Dyke, one of the British Virgin Islands has always been one of my favorite island hopping locations.  For many years Jost was like the Hamptons of St John, a bit more remote and rustic but a short trip to escape every day St John life.  My favorite spot to stay has always been Ivan's Stress Free Bar and Local Flavor.  I have great memories before Kenny Chesney discovered it and leaked it to the rest of the world.  I used to spend weekends at Ivan's with my youngest daughter, Grace. The days were spent soaking up the warm sun while lying on White Bay beach.  Evenings came alive with the infamous White Bay Ever Changing All Star Band at Ivan's.  My 3 year old used to sleep right through the music, which was perfect for me, a single mom.

Lindsay's engagement ring and wedding band were custom made by Wexet Jewelry.

Lindsay and Patrick decided they would get married on the beach in front of Sandy Grounds where the group was staying.  Sandy Ground is a group of villas over looking Sandy Spit.  They loved Harris Place in Little Harbor and hoped to hold their reception at Harris'.

Brenda and I went over to Jost to scout locations after discussing Lindsay's vision for the reception.  We met with Cynthia, the owner of Harris' , who could not have been more gracious and excited to host their reception.  The only issue is that Harris' predominate color of decor is RED.  I knew we could design something complimentary at Harris but the original design was not going to work.  We settled on Harris's for the welcome party and Cynthia pulled out all of stops for this group.

Lindsay wanted to keep her original look soft blushes with gold accents, so we regrouped and headed to check out Ivan's.  20 years ago Ivan's was a very basic camp grounds with a killer location and beach.  Ivan's daughter, Darlene had taken over from her dad, keeping the wonderful feel of a beach bar but adding some nice touches. Ivan's went from camping to glamping!

During our site visit, Brenda and I found this special spot high up on the mountain.  I could envision our bride and groom's wedding photos up on this grassy knoll.  I was thrilled to see how Dave Puente captured these stunning photos there.

We took Ivan's and blinged out the beach bar to add a little pizzaz to an already fun location.   Our goal was not to recreate an already gorgeous location but instead to combine textures to provide a rustic look with some dazzle. We used Island Style Weddings decor collection to include woven charger plates,  burlap tie backs , gold sequin table runners, bistro lights, crystal chandeliers, gold bird cages and lots of gold votive candles to create the mood. We repurposed the bride maids bouquets by Roses too for the centerpieces.  Simple, fun and snazzy all came together for a great celebration.  What a wonderful and fun group this was.
