One of the perks of wedding planning is working with great photographers.  Recently the fabulous blue and pink haired Carla Ten Eyck visited us and graced us with a photo session. Carla made us feel right at home and the results are perfect! Be sure to visit more of her work at www.carlateneyck.com.

Island Style Weddings was a long time in the making. I spent many years working for major hotels and resorts on the US mainland and in the US Virgin Islands. Within Marriott, Westin and Sheraton, I coordinated events for Heads of State, celebrities and many corporations. In 2002 after 8 hotels and 17 years, I found my self unfulfilled and bored. Divine discontentment gave me the push, I took a leap of faith and Island Style Weddings was born.

Island Style Weddings came from a vision and a passion to create a business that would make my heart sing! Do what you love and the rest will take care of itself - I have NEVER looked back.

Why Wedding Planning? As a planner by nature, wedding planning allows me to use my talents in an area that gives me great joy. Additionally, I get to share my knowledge and connections in St John with my clients to help fulfill their wedding dreams.

Being part of a wedding is an honor that forever stimulates me. My couples become friends for life, return for vow renewals, refer me to their friends and families and send me lots and lots of baby photos.

My love of St John and years of business experience here allow me to assist my couples in creating a celebration that reflects who they are- One of my first questions to brides is “describe to me your vision of your wedding day?” Every woman has a vision whether they know it or not- So my mission is to translate that vision into a real event.

I hope that you will consider planning an Island Style Wedding and share in the beauty of St. John. Begin the rest of your life here !!!  Mary

The art of a wedding planning can be very challenging but the rewards are great.  You get to assist in creating memories that will last a lifetime. You create a week filled with moments made exclusively for  your client which makes your experiences different from week to week. This career path has given me  an opportunity to see my beautiful island of St. John through different eyes, I have begun to have  appreciate where I live because there is no other island as beautiful as ST. JOHN.  I am a mother of four children and a native of St. John.  In my spare time for the past 15 years I fight fires with the Virgin Islands Fire Service.  There are many paths in life and no matter what I have chosen as a career path it is always about service. It is important in one’s life to always make your daily life as  rewarding as possible and my life as a mother, firefighter and wedding planner does that for me.
