Wedding Photography on St. John, US Virgin Islands

Tropical Bride, Amarosa, St. John, USVINever select a wedding photographer simply by viewing their website. Photography software programs can enhance photographs and promote false talent. Make sure that your photographer is not only talented but also very friendly and never pushy or lacking in patience. Photography is an important part of your wedding- however it is important that your photographer not monopolize the bride and groom which in turns throws off the timeline of the wedding day.

Traditional or photojournalistic?
Photojournalistic wedding photography is not a new style or fashion. (It has been around for decades. All knowledgeable professional photographers have to combine both traditional photography and photojournalistic photography to capture a couple's wedding accurately and efficiently. Traditional photography is necessary for group photos and portraits. Photojournalistic photography is a must for capturing spontaneous candid moments, soft personal interactions and lively receptions. If you are only purchasing an hour of photography- anticipate that your photos will be more traditional and posed vs. photojournalistic in style. For groups of 20 + persons - at minimum of 2 hours of photography is recommended- To ensure that you have a combination of traditional and photojournalistic wedding photos- Island Style Weddings Photographers offer a 6 hour unlimited photos package.

Tropical Bride, Amarosa, St. John, USVI What time should I get married?
With the use of polarizing filters and soft flash units, anytime is a good time to get married in the Virgin Islands. But, early morning weddings are cool and excellent for capturing vibrant blue & green colors. Morning beach weddings are ideal from 8- 9 am for more privacy and cooler temperatures Sunset weddings are great for capturing warm gold and red tones. Sunset weddings are very popular, so make sure to reserve your photographer immediately after selecting your wedding date. It is imperative that you be prompt for your sunset wedding- your wedding coordinator can keep you on track- a few minutes can make all the difference in your photos and not something you want to risk!

What to wear?
The coolest Caribbean months are from December through March in the Virgin Islands. During this time, all wedding attire is comfortable except heavy wool suits. During the other months, the weather is usually hot and humid. Wedding attire should be limited to light comfortable dresses for the brides and light suits or linens for the grooms and guests. It is a good idea for grooms to wear an undershirt under their dress shirt. Bring blotting towel if you are prone to sweating.

Note: SUNSCREEN!!! Brides - make sure that you protect your skin from sun damage or annoying tan lines that are not compatible with the straps or the cut of your dress.
